🔧 How to Disable TPM and Secure Boot in BIOS/UEFI
This guide explains how to disable TPM (Trusted Platform Module) and Secure Boot in your BIOS settings.
Disabling TPM (Trusted Platform Module) and Secure Boot may be necessary for certain tools or software to function correctly. Follow the steps below carefully to modify these settings from your BIOS/UEFI.
🧭 Step-by-Step Instructions
1. 🔁 Enter BIOS/UEFI Setup
Restart your PC.
As the system boots, repeatedly press your BIOS key:
Common keys: F2, DEL, ESC, or F10
Your BIOS access key may appear briefly on screen (e.g., “Press F2 to enter setup”).
If you're unsure, refer to your motherboard/laptop manual or look up the key for your brand.
2. 🔒 Disable TPM (Trusted Platform Module)
Navigate to the Security, Advanced, or Trusted Computing tab (varies by BIOS).
Locate the setting named:
TPM, TPM 2.0, PTT (Platform Trust Technology), or Security Device
Set it to: Disabled
If there are sub-options (e.g., "Security Device Support"), disable them as well.
3. 🛡️ Disable Secure Boot
Go to the Boot, Boot Options, or Security tab.
Find Secure Boot.
Set it to: Disabled
You may need to:
Set OS Type to Other OS first
Disable Fast Boot in some BIOS versions
4. 💾 Save & Exit
Press F10 (or select Save and Exit from the BIOS menu).
Confirm changes when prompted.
Your PC will now reboot with TPM and Secure Boot disabled.
❗ Important Notes
Some systems require setting a BIOS supervisor/admin password before these options become visible.
Always be cautious in BIOS—only change what you understand.
If you ever want to re-enable TPM or Secure Boot, repeat the steps above and set them to Enabled.
